Provincial Government and Task Force ELCAC bring services caravan to Bobon




The provincial government of Northern Samar, along with various national government agencies and private sector representatives, bring services caravan today, January 28, 2021, amidst heavy rains to more than 500 residents of Brgy. Calantiao, an interior barangay located about 45 minutes ride from the town center of Bobon.
DILG Region 8 Director Karl Cesar Rimando, along with OCD 8 ARD Rey Gozon, Governor Edwin Ongchuan, OPAPP Samar Island Director Imelda Bonifacio, NSPPO Provincial Director PCol Arnel Apud and representing the Office of the President, Presidential Adviser for Eastern Visayas Director Marjorie Jaramilla, opened the event and led the distribution of food packs and goodies from both the national and provincial government. Two separate food packs were given to families consisting of rice, canned goods, biscuits and noodles.
Services given during the caravan were free health and dental services, including circumcision through DOH and the Provincial Health Office; hygiene kits from the Office of Civil Defense; farm tools and inputs such as rake, shovel and seeds from the Provincial Agriculture Office; dispersal of native chicken, feeds, supplements, dewormers and animal medicines from the Provincial Veterany Office; slippers and reading materials from PNP; free haircut by TESDA and the Philippine Army; toys, rubber slippers and sweet treats from Governor and Mrs. Blessie Ongchuan; bikes, tablets, face masks, vitamins and lunch packs from the Office of Senator Bong Go.
Other agencies also participated to offer their services to the people: DSWD, DTI, OPAPP, DAR, COMELEC, PIA, LGU Bobon, PopCom, PCCAO, NSPESO and non-government organization UCPB-Eagles Club.
The activity is a joint barangay outreach of the Regional and Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTC/PTC-ELCAC) under its Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) and the provincial government under its Kauswagan Caravan Program. Both programs aim to bring government services closer to the people, particularly in remote areas, to make communities feel that the government is there and works to uplift their quality of life.
