Northern Samar registers 5 new cases of COVID-19
Tonight, September 9, 2020, Northern Samar registers 5 new cases of COVID-19, announced by the Department of Health Eastern Visayas Center for Health Development (EV-CHD).
Of the 5 cases, 4 are from Catarman, and 1 from Allen. The 4 cases from Catarman are close contacts while the case from Allen is a locally stranded individual (LSI). They were all swabbed on September 8, 2020.
The case from Catarman, EV-3548, is a 43-year old female teacher with symptoms of fever and loss of smell as early as August 23, 2020.
EV-3549 also from Catarman, is a 26-year old female who is asymptomatic.
Another case from the same municipality, EV-3550, is only 1 year and 7 months old, a male close contact but who showed no symptoms of the disease.
Meanwhile, EV-3551 is a 64-year old male from Catarman, also a close contact and asymptomatic.
The case from Allen, EV-3547, is a 22-year old male LSI, also asymptomatic.
These new cases bring the total COVID cases of the province to 126. Of these, 59 are recovered while active cases are 67.
With the continuous increase of COVID-19 cases in the province, everyone is enjoined to strictly observe health and safety protocols to contain spread of the disease.
