Northern Samar has 11 new COVID cases



The Department of Health Center for Health Development in Eastern Visayas registered tonight, July 30, 2020, 11 new COVID-19 cases in Northern Samar. The 11 new confirmed cases are returning residents, all LSIs from the towns of San Roque (1), Capul (2), Silvino Lubos (4), Mapanas (1) and Gamay (3). The case from San Roque, is a 31-year old female LSI who arrived in the province on July 7, 2020 from Paco, Manila. She was brought to the community isolation facility upon arrival, and was observed to have colds on July 22, 2020. She was swabbed on July 28, 2020. The 2 new confirmed cases from Capul are both male, also LSIs. One (EV-891) came from Binondo Manila, arriving in the province on July 16, 2020. He is asymptomatic but had reactive rapid test results, hence swabbed for confirmation. The other (EV-892) came from Sta. Maria, Bulacan, arriving on July 11, 2020. On July 25, he showed symptoms of cough with vomiting. Both were isolated since arrival. The first 4 cases of Silvino Lubos are 2 males and 2 females: EV-893 is a 27 year old male; EV-894, a 77 year old female; EV-895, a 34-year old male; and EV 896, a 22-year old female. Three (3) had reactive rapid test results while 1 was observed to have developed cough on July 22, 2020. Also the first case of Mapanas, a 9-month old infant, is an LSI who arrived in the province on July 20, 2020. He was observed to have cough since arrival, and also brought to the municipal isolation facility. The 3 cases from Gamay, all males, are asymptomatic LSIs who are close contacts of the first positive case of Gamay (EV-709). One came from Muntinlupa (EV-898), the 2 others from Imus Cavite (EV-899) and Quezon City (EV-900). They are isolated at the municipal isolation facility. The Capul cases were swabbed on July 27, 2020 while the others were swabbed on July 28, 2020. The 11 latest confirmed cases bring the total COVID cases of the province to 40.
