Provincial Government marks Blood Month 2019 by honoring blood donors and program partners

Today, the provincial government of Northern Samar honors voluntary blood donors and valued partners in the voluntary blood donation program as a way to celebrate Blood Month 2019.
LGUs were awarded plaques of recognition for achieving the 1% national target for voluntary blood donation, namely: San Antonio, Capul, San Jose, Allen, Rosario, Lapinig, San Isidro, Lope de Vega and Bobon.
Other groups in the province were also recognized for their exemplary support to the program: the Philippine National Police, Dating Daan, Northern Samar Masonic Lodge and the 43rd We Search Troopers Battalion of the 8th ID, Philippine Army. Galloner blood donors or those who have donated two to three times a year for four consecutive years were also recognized for their act of altruism and humanitarian spirit which helped save many lives. Galloner awardees were from San Roque, Capul, Mapanas, Palapag, San Isidro and San Jose.
“By celebrating Blood Month and recognizing the efforts of our implementers and program partners, we continue to raise awareness on the importance of sufficient and safe blood supply in the province.” Dr. Catherine Miral, Provincial Health Officer I, said as she welcomed the participants to the event.
Board Member Fawa Batula who graced the celebration, noted the need for more blood donation, telling program implementers and advocates not to be disheartened by the challenges that they meet along the way, but remain optimistic that the national target is not impossible to achieve, as long as there is cooperation and mutual support. “Together, we can do great things,” the senior board member said, quoting Mother Theresa.
SK Provincial Federation President Elcid Abalon, head of the NSPH Blood Bank Dr. Glenn Anthony Luzano, Dr. Miral and NVBSP program coordinator Jeane Pelayo handed the awards to the blood donors, LGU achievers and program partners.
